Blacktop Passages publishes fiction, poetry, nonfiction, art, and photography about the road, in print and online. You may want to familiarize yourself with work previously published by us to get an idea of how general that “road” may be. Our full archive is available on BlacktopPassages.com.
We consider submissions of up to five poems or prose up to 3,000 words. Tell us a bit about yourself and your work in a short cover letter. We strive to respond in a timely manner, so please let us know if more than three months has elapsed since your submission. Please see our Duotrope page for specifics on types, lengths, and restrictions. As well, we only accept submissions through Submittable, any material submissions to our e-mail will go unread.
While we don’t consider previously published work, we accept simultaneous submissions. Just let us know if your work is accepted elsewhere immediately.
One submission at a time, and please allow 90 days from your latest response from us to submit again.
Finally, Blacktop Passages requests First Exclusive Print & Electronic Serial Rights to your submissions. This means we’re the first and only magazine, journal, or periodical to publish the piece in print or online. Your work can still be anthologized or reprinted in a collection, all we ask is you note that it first appeared in Blacktop Passages.
